BARFC Patron & Life Member David Burt JP Walks 6.2 miles to support Parkinsons Charity

David Burt a Life Member of BARFC, Former Club Treasurer and Trustee and founder of the 100 Club in 1995 and administrator for 24 years raising over £15,000 for all rugby sections of the club was diagnosed with Parkinsons in 2015. Along with Mr John Apsee Snr & Gareth Davies David is also a Club Patron.

Since 2015 in gratitude for the support from the Parkinsons Charity and the Princess of Wales he has been a tireless worker for the Parkinsons charity. Last year supported by the Bridgend Male Choir where he has also held several important positions, he raised £3,500 for the cause with a Charity concert.

His latest venture on Sunday May 20th involved a 6.2-mile walk along Mumbles Bay along with his wife Mary, daughter Joanne and grandchildren Tom & Ella. This is a feat for a normal 69-year-old, but with his condition it was courageous to take on such a venture.
“Approx. 200 plus walkers set off & tho' it wasn't a race I did not finish last. 2 hrs 25 mins for the 6.2 miles course is much better than I expected”, David commented.” I am even more delighted with the £3,000 (inc. Gift Aid) which has been raised so far by our "Walking for Gramps" team. The figure is growing, and it would be great if I can match last year’s concert’s £3,500.”

This Parkinson's page is still open for a while, if anybody would wish to boost David’s total for this worthy cause.
“Thank you all and let's hope that all the fund-raising is bringing forward the time when this dreadful ailment is eradicated.” concluded David.
