Sean Williams receives his Atletic cap from Head Coach John Apsee

Sean Williams – Receives BARFC Cap

Following the Athletic cup tie against Bonymaen Athletic Head Coach John Apsee presented Sean Williams with his club cap. John described Sean joining the elite of players receiving BARFC caps, normally for over 300 club appearances as a real inspiration to all Athletic players aspiring to become Ath legends. During his 5 seasons as captain his inspirational captaincy kept the Athletic in the upper echelons of a difficult Championship era.

Sean made over 50 appearances for the Athletic Youth captaining them for one season. He has made 258 Senior appearances incl today’s game against Bonymaen. It would have been even more but for missing a full season with a very bad leg injury. While favouring the No 6 role Sean has been playing No 8 this season and his versality and club loyalty has made him equally adept at any position in the back row or lock forward to help the team. He is a coach’s dream player and has been selected as 1st XV captain on 5 occasions. He has been awarded player of the year and best forward on many occasions – awarded by both his coaches and fellow players. He has crossed for25 senior tries to date.

He played Premiership rugby with Swansea before returning to his home club, despite other offers elsewhere.
