Tom Morgan has become the latest senior Ath centurion in preseason competitive fixtures. He has played 97 of those 100 games for the 1st XV, since scoring a try playing at No 8 in his senior debut while still in the Ath youth side. In all he has crossed the whitewash on 15 occasions.
Tom is a great clubman willing to play in virtually any position as he showed last Saturday completing his forward sequence of back row forward and lock by filling the tight head prop role. He is willing to play there this coming season as with shift work our established props often not available. One thing is certain he will give everything he has to whatever position he plays-
He is an example in training and influence on the players around him. Also, over Xmas period when training numbers weren’t great Tom didn’t miss a session. Tom’s attitude is great for BARFC.
Tom came through the BARFC M&J and Youth Team where he won a Most Promising Player Award. He made an immediate impact at senior level and was signed by Neath and Bridgend Ravens where he impressed with a very physical outlook mainly at No 8.
He played in our Championship seasons converting very successfully to centre –terrifying sides like Ebbw Vale with his direct running, before re-joining rugby league side South Wales Scorpions.
Tom re-joined the Ath in the 2022-2023 season playing in whatever position the Ath need him including centre as well as the pack.He has shown outstanding commitment barely missing a training session. He is a very respected player and talisman, who leads by example and is a figurehead for the youngsters coming through.
He was rewarded by winning the 2022-2023 season Daryl Dyke Memorial Award. In the past 2 seasons he has also on 3 occasions been the Nathaniel Car Sales Player of the month.
