BARFC Matthew Norman Bridgend Athletic Nathaniel Car Sales Player of November

Prop Matthew Norman became the third Bridgend Athletic RFC recipient this season of the new Nathaniel Car Sales Player of the month award. He follows September’s Ben Davies, October’s Ben Howe as November’s recipient.

In November the Athletic won all 3 league games away at Tondu and Waunarlwydd and a thumping 44-7 home win over Nantyfyllon. Unfortunately, losing a close 3rd Round National Plate tie against Treorchy. Mathew was Man of Match in the Tondu and Treorchy games.

Presenting the award Athletic coach Stuart Morris who had played many games with Matthew said it was hard for a prop to shine like a back row forward, but Matthew as well as a great prop was like a fourth back row player to the Ath.

Matthew started in the Ath U12’s and was part of the Ath Youth Welsh League and Cup winning side in 2008-2009 led by current Ath captain Ben Howe and featuring current players Nathan Holman and Aled Thomas.

As well as a season at Swansea Matthew has made 113 senior Ath appearances scoring 12 tries. He has also Welsh Fire Service Caps playing against England and Scotland Fire Services.
