Bridgend Athletic Youth Rags 7 Machen Youth 22

The Athletic second-string youth the Rags - mainly a very young side from last season’s U16 team played an early kick off friendly against Machen Youth.
They showed great spirit in securing a fair share of possession, but unfortunately lack of experience prevented them turning many opportunities into tries. The older more mature Machen side produced some good try scoring moves to run in four tries.
The Rags showed character and were rewarded for their persistence with a try wide out by scrum half Josh Tidy well converted by Sam Owens. Coach Lee Grabham said “This young Rags side are improving with each preseason friendly game, and start their league campaign away at Taibach this Saturday Sept 16th. This season’s experience will stand them in good stead and is a good stepping stone to the senior youth team in the next two seasons.”
