Upper Swansea Valley Youth 17 Bridgend Athletic Youth 12

Folgend Athletic hastily arranged a friendly game away to Upper Swansea Valleys.

They travelled down with only sixteen players for the early 1.15pm k.o. preceding the Wales v South Africa International. With the Athletic limited to one prop, the game had to be played with passive scrums

.

With a friendly welcome from the opposing team and coaching staff, the game kicked off. The USV looked a strong side but the young Ath side matched them in most areas of the game, until they were caught short of players out wide, resulting in the USV winger diving over in the corner, for an unconverted try. Both teams were cancelling each other out with some great defending,

The Ath forwards (Branyn Fooks, Jack Obbard, Keegan Thomas, Kalafi Molitika, Morgan Roberts, George Tellem, Sion Vigus and Ben Owen) started to pick up their game, but unfortunately open-side flanker Sion Vigus picked an injury and had to leave the field of play. Wing Corbyn Lee then moved into the pack at flanker and the lone Ath substitute Issac Watkins took his place on the wing.

With the Ath forwards taking the game to USV, outside half Cameron Lewis spotted the oppositions blindside was short of players and arced from one side of the field to the other to cross over in the corner to level the half time score at 5-5.

The second half saw USV up their game and came out of the blocks, looking like a very determined outfit and took the game straight to the heart of the Ath defence.  Within the first fifteen minutes, they scored two unanswered tries, one converted to take a 17-5 lead.

This seemed to spur on the Ath players and they started to play with more determination and communication for the rest of the game.  With ten minutes remaining the Ath scored a try through good handling by the backs (Josh Tidy, Cameron Lewis, Coryn Lee, Issac Watkins, Louis King, Owen Thomas and LeviHallett), allowing Levi Hallett to crash over.  Herted his own try to reduce the deficit to 17-12.he final minutes of the game the Ath forwards attacked the USV line with a series of pick and goes, but the USVfence ld firm.
