BARFC would like to congratulate life member and long serving club treasurer Terry Coles and his wife Angela on celebrating their 50^th Wedding Anniversary on December 9^th. Both have been long term supporters of the club both with rugby support and administration – with Angela doing a lot of background work supporting Terry in his treasurer’s duty. Their former company J.G.Plant were also long term generous sponsors of BARFC.

BARFC owe Terry a great debt with his financial acumen in allowing it to currently support 14 teams from Under 7 to senior rugby with around 400 players benefitting from being able to pull on a BARFC shirt. In common with many other local clubs at the turn of the century BARFC were drawn into an attempt to buy success and suffered accordingly coming near the brink of folding. With Terry’s hard work and personal support and the help of various committees the club survived and despite other rocky roads managed to turn around the situation. Knowing when to invest has seen the club with a great function room and downstairs bars in which players and supporters can relax and enjoy a pleasant environment.

Their son Robert was a prolific try scoring centre for the Ath. His 89 tries and 445 points in 168 1^st XV Appearances brought Llanelli knocking. Robert tried it out down West but missed the camaraderie at the Athletic returning in less than a season.

Terry has also until recently held the position of club chairman and has barely missed an Athletic fixture home or away for a great many years. He enjoys nothing more than returning to the club on a Saturday evening in the season and throughout the close season as well to enjoy a few pints with his popular older son Paul. Angela offers great support and is a willing chauffeur for these occasions.
