The Athletic are once again grateful to Simon of J.H. Apsee & Co Removals & Storage Specialists for sponsoring last Saturday’s fixture with Waunarlwydd at the Morganstone Brewery Field. Simon & his highly reputable company have been involved with the Ath for over forty odd years that they have been trading and are the longest Athletic club sponsors. They also sponsored this season’s substitutes all weather suits.

Grandfather John founder of the business became involved with the Athletic when current head coach John played in the youth in 1977 before representing Maesteg, Bridgend and Wales B at centre. His other son Simon now the principle in the company played flanker for the Ath & Bridgend. Their sons Dan a No 8 & Rhodri a prop have also represented the Ath & Bridgend Ravens and are current Maltese Internationals. No 8 Dan has made 189 Senior Ath appearances, while prop Rhodri has made 62 including a recent permit game from the Ravens against Ammanford.

Sponsors like the Apsees allow the club to thrive and provide rugby for over 400 players weekly from Under 7’s to Youth & Senior level since its formation in 1972. This support has been vital in seeing many Welsh Youth & Senior Welsh Caps emerge from its base, as well as two British Lions in a great success story over the last 45 years.
