Following victories over Nantyfyllon and Tondu, Bridgend Athletic 2^nd XV made it 3 successive 2017 Mid Glamorgan Premier League wins with a 25-19 defeat of Heol Y Cyw. They outscored the home team by 3 tries to 2.

 

Wing Chris Walker ran a good angle off outside half Scott Jones to cross under the posts for the first Athletic try and his 11^th senior try of the season. The Athletic kicked a penalty to the corner and good driving play by the forwards saw hooker Gethin Cattle pushed over for the second try. A blind side move off a scrum saw quick ball from a ruck off loaded to prop Rhys Evenden who came around the corner to cross for the third try. Scott Jones converted 2 of the tries and kicked 2 penalties to complete the Athletic 25 points, and bring up 51 personal points for the season.

 

The Athletic backs ran strongly throughout with good possession from the forwards, but disappointingly several try scoring overlaps were shunned by whitewash fever. Hopefully this can be rectified this Saturday when Glynneath visit Newbridge Fields.
