With some last minute injuries and two players training with Wales in hockey / basketball it was left to the 16 players who attended to try and deliver the first win of the season.

 

As Treorchy kicked off the initial 10 minutes were stop start due to the conditions and early season rust but soon the Ath were on the board with returning centre Rhys Hockings making an outside break and scoring under the post. Charlie Rees converted 7-0. Treorchy through a serious of mistakes and penalties managed a short range try of their own with a successful conversation 7-7.  The Ath forwards then produced some powerful carries and when the ball was spread to Rhys he tip toed down the touch line to regain the lead again Charlie converted 14-7 H/T

 

2nd half was again stop start and the penalty count against us was very high, again using the large forwards the ball was worked over in the corner for Treorchy second try, this time they were unable to convert 14-12. The final 5 minutes the boys finally managed to get some possession and Leo Quinn scored a wonderful try junking his way over, Charlie Rees maintained his 100% kicking stats for the season with another successful conversion making it 21-12. The final play seen Daniel Honeyfield burst through a tackle and linked up brilliantly with the support only for the red to adjust that the supporting play knocked on in the act of scoring final score 21-12 to gain the teams first win of the season.
