The Under 13's traveled to Llanishen in Cardiff against a team who would provide a stern test for the squad. The only previous encounter has at U11's in a festival.
With a squad of 18 traveling with a couple still on their summer holidays the team started in their usual slow manner and found themselves behind 12-0 after 15 minutes. The handling was rusty and the boys were allowing the opposition far too much time with the ball. However the forwards really fronted up and got the team back into the game through some close quarter pick and go's around the fringes resulting with as score for Rhydian Greenhall with the try converted excellently by Charlie Rees wide out on the 15. Straight from the restart the boys were starting to find their rhythm and through some good straight running by Sam Breeze got the team up to the 22, when the ball was spread Leo Quinn found a gap and used his pace to draw the team level. Charlie again converted with the ath taking a 14-12 lead into H/T.
Second half Llanishen picked the pace up and used their big winger to carry resulting in front foot ball their regained the lead 17-14. Back came the boys and managed to get some quick ball which was spread wide to Daniel Stoodley who rounded him man to score a well taken try, the ever reliable Charlie Rees converted to regain the lead 21=17. However with some boys now falling off the tackles and players having to play out of position due to injuries Llanishen scored two late tries to make the final score 31-21.
Lots to work on in training with tough fixtures every week which in the long term will benefit the team.
